About us

Contact has been established as a dynamic online space where lovers and collectors of photography can find and support the work they love, providing a funding platform for both established and emerging photographers. Our aim at CONTACT is to create a community around photographic talent, to support photographers in the ongoing progress of their personal work. Contact will support photography at all levels; providing opportunities for those already producing work to self-fund through the sale of editioned prints, and a hand up to those embarking on their first personal projects, through informal crits, online advice and competitions. We see CONTACT as a way of creating a network and community between photographers, galleries, collectors and image lovers.

We believe that photography is an important visual medium and a vital way of communicating ideas, exploring subjects and asking questions. The funding of photography is in flux and we see Contact as an evolving part of this process, an exciting opportunity to allow photographers to access unrestricted funds for new work, in exchange sharing their knowledge and experience with students or amateur photographers.

How does it work?

We present photographers who have developed a strong visual language, offering limited edition prints of their work at an affordable price, breaking the convention that only the wealthy can collect. Each edition print that we release is from a different photographer, and is a single image representative of an important body of their work, either ongoing or completed. With a panel of industry professionals, we handpick emerging and established talent in order to provide a broad variety of aesthetics, ideas and approaches to photography.

Edition releases are accompanied by an interview with the photographer about the creation of the image and their creative process, allowing visitors to the site access to an ever increasing archive of contemporary thought in photography. We want to provide insights into the artists thought processes, the stories behind the images, the intellectual motivations; presenting not only the visual but emphasising the context. Alongside the photographers talking about their work, we have asked professionals within the industry to talk about their roles and to offer advice to artists. By doing this we aim to create an accessible community and resource for both photographers and those inspired by photography.
